The Empire Builders

You know you wanna ride it:

Empire Builder is a cross-country, multi-day, artist adventure on the Amtrak line of the same name. Artists are converging on the train from cities around the country to meet, conspire, create, and interact while riding the rails to attend the Open Engagement Conference in Portland, OR on May 14th.

The participants are keeping a tumblr page with anecdotes, pictures of the food they’re bringing, musical playlists and “train porn”at: http://empirebuilder.tumblr.com/

The East Coast dwellers arrived for a dance party in Chicago last night, and today everyone boards for Oregon. I am crossing my fingers that we’ll get a taste of “The Bryce is Right” at the OE closing party on Monday May 17 over at the Red Cap.

Too bad I didn’t know about this earlier- I would have loved to attend! I’m just south, in Salem, which I guess means I would have had to miss out on the EB trip anyway. Which is also too bad . . . I love that train! The entire ordeal sounds like a blast!
